FALLS RUN COMMUNITY CENTER COMMITTEE MEETING

FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 1 PM by Jo Schmidt. Members present were Mary Owens, Tom Bruns, Art Gabler, Kurt Schaffert, Rich Lazanov, Jackie Richards. Also present were Property Manager, Debbie Sutton, and BoD members, Don Horan, Dan Owens, and Tom Whalen.

Jo reported that Ann Jones and George Malhoit have agreed on the selection of a rowing machine but suggested waiting until George returns from vacation for action.

The pool deck painting was discussed. Kurt, Dan and Debbie have met with a contractor, Artisan Designs, who impressed them. He recommends removal of old paint and the filling of all settlement places (coping and pool not involved). He will paint and seal with epoxy coat, spraying with 3 colors that blend. Estimate is $12,000. The question of the need for 3 contractors came up and Debbie will try to get similar work estimates. Dan agreed to work with Kurt on a cost analysis of just painting versus the proper procedure for lasting results. Don Horan reminded the committee that if they elect to go with the more expensive approach to the pool deck painting, the money might not be available until the 2010 budget.  Debbie brought up the condition of the spa. Kurt will investigate.

Jackie reported that as approved by the FRCA Board, 20 chairs have been ordered and will arrive around May 24^th.  There was a discussion about the sale of the present lounge chairs. Tom and Jackie were asked to price the chairs and notify the community of the sale of the chairs.

The thermostat situation in the activities room was discussed. Jo will get together with Ann about running the fans during special activities.

Debbie brought up the need for disposing of the green pots.  They are not considered valuable. The suggestion was made to just offer them to residents who might be interested.
