Community Center Committee 3/19/10

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 1 PM by Chairman Tom Bruns.  Members in attendance were: Bob Gilbert, Jo Schmidt, Rich Lazanov, and Martha Poillon.  Also attending were Board Liaison Dan Owens, Activity Director Ann Jones, residents Bob Busch, Denzil Willis and Shirley Whelan.

Motion was made and passed to waive the reading of February and future meetings.

Shirley Whelan was recognized and she presented a list of concerns and observation regarding the operation and maintenance of the indoor pool.  She was advised that the committee was now aware of them, however,  these were not matters that the committee would handle and that we would forward them to the Property Manager and the Activities Director.

Discussion was held over installing a camera in the outdoor pool area.  Denzil provided technical information. Pros were availably (extra cameras came with the scan system), low cost to install, safety and ability for post incident review.  Only con noted was possible perception of privacy violation.  However, it was agreed that we are all recorded frequently during our routine daily activities.  Motion was made to recommend installing the camera and it passed unanimously.  Tom will prepare and submit a RFA..

It was announced that Rappahannock has been awarded the pool maintenance contract.

After last month’s action the kitchen stove is no longer on our agenda.

Martha reported that she has approximately 25 pool attendant volunteers and that she is forming schedules.  Their next meeting is 4/15 at noon.

A motion was mad and passed unanimously to recommend one more change to the center rules.  The change is to 2.6.11.DOORS change the first word from  All to Initial...

The BoD has our recommendation for UPS maintenance contract.

It was announced that Ann has formed a committee to form inclement weather guidelines for the concierges.

It was agreed that Ann could raise money to purchase a bathing suit dryer.

It was further agreed that she would acquire a Sirius radio and pay the monthly fee from her budget.

Rich will investigate the cost of adding a stage to the center.

It was agreed that the committee would not meet in April; our next scheduled meeting is May 21 at 1 PM.
