Community Center Committee meeting 6/18/10 minutes

The meeting was called to order at 2 PM by Chairman Tom Bruns.  Members present were Jo Schmidt, Mary Owens, George Malhiot, Rich Lazanov and Kurt Schaffert.  Also attending were Board Liaison Dan Owens, Property Manager Debbie Sutton, Residents Al Venit and Susanne Lazanov.

 Tom announced that the RFA for a camera at the outdoor pool was not approved by the BoD. 

Al Venit presented a proposal for a double oven to be installed in the kitchen.  Al was representing several members of the social committee. The total cost is $6,500.  Al stated that if approved, the social committee would raise at least half of the money with fundraisers.  After discussion a motion was made to include this in our 2011 budget request.  The motion passed 5 to 1. Other 2011 budget items are funds for resealing the indoor pool deck.  This needs to be done October 2011 to maintain the appearance and the warranty of the deck coating.  We are also getting a proposal for outdoor motion lights for the front of  the building.  If installed we could have considerable energy cost reduction by turning off the front lights after hours of operation.

Kurt reported that he and Lan were able to restore a ventilator in the communications room to operating condition at no cost.  Combined with the removal of the Cox equipment, the room may stay cool enough without any investment of funds.

Joe and Tom will meet with Ann to discuss the best policy for thermostat settings.
