Notes
of Communications Committee Meeting, May 1
o Attendees at the meeting were Bill Arnst, Len Godek, Norm Kolb,
Phyllis Knoll, Mal Malo, Dan Owens and Jack Mounts.
o The
Committee welcomed the new member Phyllis Knoll, who is the new editor of the
Gazette.
o Mal said
that the Finance Committee had reviewed the Committee's Request for Approval (RFA) to
the Board for the addition of a funded Computer Concierge position and
purchase of software in support of the Falls Run computer operation
at the
Rec
Center
and that the funding could be accommodated, if approved by the
Board. The Committee provided to Mal details of the position and noted
that the committee will make every effort to purchase the software for
the least cost to Falls Run. (This RFA was approved by the Board at its
working session May 3.)
o Discussion
centered, during the meeting, on the Falls Run Information System (FRIS) RFA
package that had been submitted to the Committee for review before being
officially submitted to the Board. Following are comments resulting
from the discussion:
- Attendees noted that the FRIS RFA should include the
requirement that Koger should provide a backup to the FRIS, when
implemented, and a complete copy of the FRIS database should be
provided to Falls Run computer operations each month. These items
were included in the RFA.
- The information gathering trip to Koger's headquarters should
be conducted. However, because of conflicts, the trip will scheduled during
June.
- The RFA for the FRIS would be forwarded to the Board with the
request for the Board’s approval for the Communications Committee to
start the process of developing specifications and requirements for a
Falls Run Information System. If the RFA is approved,The Com Com will
begin meeting with other committees to brief them on the
FRIS objectives and to obtain their input prior to presentation to Koger.
(This RFA was approved by the Board at its working session May 3.)
o Bill said that
the new schedule for publishing of the Directory update is the end of May.
o Dan noted
that he will be on vacation May 24 - June 7 and Jack said he will be on
vacation May 14 - 19.
