Falls Run Election Committee

Minutes July 14, 2011

Present: Corinne Busch, Denzil Willis, Mary Beth Spring, Diana Naatjes, Susanne Lazanov, Vice-Chair and Norm Kolb, Chair.

Unavoidably absent: Barbara Chadwick and Bill Arnst

Meeting began at 11AM. Norm welcomed Diana Naatjes as a new member of the Committee.

  1. There will be FOUR Director positions open this year:  Toni Brown, Dot Foster, Jake Bernard and John Thrash have two years terms that are completed.  All of our documents need to reflect four open positions as well as changed dates, etc.

2.  Our Time Line was discussed and approved.

For November 28th we agreed that Susanne and Mary Beth will sort the ballots by street at Noon. The rest of the committee will assemble at 1PM to begin the ballot counting process and we will check at 2PM to make sure current mail has been delivered and any ballots in that day’s mail will be included.

Mary Beth will be away from October 10th to 26th.  She will prepare items ahead of time and send electronically to Norm.

  1. Our 2011 To Do List was discussed and amended. A revised copy will be sent to all committee members soon.  Susanne and Norm will meet later this month to revise all the documents and revise articles for the Gazette.

  1. Meet the Candidates -- We discussed the time allotted to each candidate and the subject of Introductions.  Committee consensus indicates 8 to 10 minutes for each speaker is adequate and no separate introductions are necessary. We need to prepare a list of points to cover for both Bill and Norm so that there will be a record of what we have done.  We do not have any documentation on MTC presentations at present.  Last year questions were few, it was suggested that the Committee prepare some questions on cards so that they would be available that day.

  1. Ballot Disqualification – Following up on our email meeting of  January;  Norm changed the disqualifications to include a separate line “envelope NOT sealed”.

This line will also be added to the Ballot. Mary Beth suggested that we list the ballot disqualifications on the reverse side of the envelope. Norm will investigate the feasibility and cost of this either as printed on the envelope or as a label.

Meeting adjourned at 12:20PM
