Lt.Col. Karl J. Kabza USMC (Retired)

 

In February 1964, Karl Kabza graduated from college, was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the Marine Corps, and got married.

The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, Virginia was his first of 19 duty stations.

 

In 1968/69 Capt. Kabza was stationed in Danang, South Vietnam with the 1st Marine Air Wing: Marine Composite Reconnaissance Squadron One (VMCJ-1) as an electronic warfare officer, his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

 

The picture shows Captain Kabza, home based in Cherry Point, NC with Marine Electronic Warfare Squadron Two (VMAQ-2), in February 1971 getting ready to fly the EA-6A Intruder off the deck of the USS Forrestal, which was sailing with the 6th fleet in the Mediterranean Sea.

 

Maj. Kabza changed his (MOS) from aviation in 1981 to that of an intelligence officer.

 

Lt.Col. Kabza’s last duty station was Headquarters Marine Corp, Manpower Division in Arlington, VA where is was the head of the Marine Corps’ worldwide drug and alcohol programs.

 

During his career he served with the US Navy at sea aboard the aircraft carriers USS Forrestal, Saratoga, America and Midway and ashore with the Naval Field Operational Intelligence Office at Fort Mead, MD. He served in Joint Service Commands at McDill AFB in Tampa, FL with the US Central Command, and at Langley AFB, VA with the Atlantic Airborne Command Post.
